Growing up in the '80's I got to experience the Golden Age of Hip Hop. This was a big deal in my artistic life because from the very first Hip Hop track I heard being original instantly became the most important thing for my art. Growing up with a dad from the 50's and a mother from the 60's, two iconic decades in the history of American music, even back then I felt special to be a part of a generation that produced a defining Genera of music. As an artist this was inspiring, this gave me purpose as an artist. I felt a responsibility to create work that would not only stand the test of time but art that would some day be used to define my generation. DJ Water is the first of my series titled The Elements, where I marry the elements of Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire with the elements of Hip Hop. I have always felt that the DJ is fluid with the beats. Like a river that flows and brings forth life, the DJ is fluid with the beats bringing life to lyrics.
