Mexican-American Blues.
In this series I merge symbols of culture to tell the story of the blues and sadness of assimilation.
Inspired by the songs of Robert Johnson I wanted to take the iconic symbol of my “culture” and use him in more human ways to tell the story of the tough times one may have while balancing two cultures.
Below are the two paintings that complete the series and the songs that go with them, I encourage you to listen and view (I've included links to the songs and paintings below)
The first is titled “Mexican-American Blues”; showing the sadness of assimilation (Crossroads-Robert Johnson)
"Preaching Blues"
The second “Preaching Blues”; showing the struggle of generational differences Preaching Blues-Robert Johnson
"Hellhounds On My Trail"
The Third “Hellhounds On My Trail” - deals with the internal struggle of right and wrong Hellhound on my trail-Robert Johnson
